Whether you are wearing flip-flops or hiking shoes, the walk to the ocean takes a mere fifteen minutes from the house. Follow our lane down to the firebreak path, cross the bike trail, and there, hidden just across the road, is a small path that dips deep into the forest. Known only to locals, this is the path that will lead you straight to the ocean.
Enjoy the crisp air of the pine forest, as the path quickly opens up onto the dunes covered in sea oats. After a few minutes of walking through the sand, just over the crest of the dune, the breathtaking view reveals itself: the Atlantic Ocean in all its wild splendor.
The sea stretches as far as the eye can see, and so does the beach, which is beautifully uncrowded and completely unsupervised. Caution is advised, as the baïnes (tidal pools) and strong currents of the Landes coast can be deceptive, even when the water's surface appears perfectly smooth. If you prefer a supervised swimming beach, "L'Horizon" beach awaits you just a bit further down—an extra fifteen-minute walk, or just a quick few minutes away if you take the bike.
This ocean coastline, framed by pine forests and wild dunes, offers spectacular sunsets that leave our travelers with lasting memories. From this ocean access point, beautiful walks await you in a pristine, preserved setting—miles away from the bustling energy of the Bay and its water sports.
To reach this little corner of paradise, the cycle path right in front of the house is your most convenient option. It makes it incredibly easy to switch up your plans throughout the day. While the ocean requires a little bit of effort, the small beach on the Bay side is just a three-minute walk from our guest rooms. It allows you to drift between two entirely different waters and atmospheres without ever having to touch your car keys.
Upon your return, you can sink back into the quiet of the house, accompanied by the gentle song of the cicadas.
With sand still lingering here and there, and your skin feeling sun-kissed and salty from the sea... After a cool shower in your air-conditioned room, unwind on the terrace with a chilled drink, watching the sky change color right above the pine trees. It is a refreshing oasis, perfect for recharging when the summer sun is at its peak.

Just a fifteen to twenty-minute walk from the guesthouse, this "hidden" beach reveals itself in all its grandeur. A pristine haven where time seems to slow down, and where you come simply to listen to the whisper of the waves while savoring the peace of wide-open spaces—all in complete privacy.

L’Horizon beach: ideal for surfing
Only a ten-minute bike ride from the guesthouse, L'Horizon beach is a favorite among Cap-Ferret locals. Its wooden boardwalks lead you easily all the way to the ocean, sparing you from walking across hot sand. Perfect for a day by the water, a surf session, or watching the sunset, it offers a vast stretch of sand where everyone can find their own space, even at high tide.

Le Truc Vert beach: the most famous
A fifteen-minute bike ride from the guesthouse, Truc Vert beach is one of the most iconic spots on the Cap-Ferret Peninsula. Nestled in the heart of the pine forest bordering the ocean, it enchants visitors with its expansive shores, seasonal lifeguard supervision, and beachfront dining—perfect for a delicious break facing the sea. You can also easily rent surf gear right here to enjoy the waves. To extend your getaway, the village of L'Herbe—one of the peninsula’s most beautiful hidden gems snuggled along the Bay—is just a few minutes away.

The Story Behind the "Truc Vert"
"So, what does Truc Vert actually mean?" Visitors ask this question all the time here! Far from being a weird mystery, this name holds a lovely piece of local history, perfect to share over a drink.
A Story of Dunes...
To get the meaning, let's take a quick trip back in time, when Gascon was the main language on the peninsula. In this ancient tongue, a "truc" simply meant a high piece of land. Over the years, the word stuck around to describe the sand dunes. It has absolutely nothing to do with the modern French word "truc" (which means "thing")—the ancestors were just describing the landscape.

As for the "vert" (green), the surrounding forest says it all. Even before catching a glimpse of the ocean, a walk through this dense, majestic wooded dune offers a total immersion in nature. The name perfectly captures the magic of the place: a green dune, raw and beautifully preserved.
